The European Central Bank and the broadcaster Hessischer Rundfunk will host the Europa Open Air concert on August 20, 2026, at Weseler Werft in Frankfurt. The free event brings together music and culture in a riverside setting as part of the ECB's engagement with its host city, with the theme "celebrating Europe."
The programme features the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and internationally renowned artists including Grammy Award-winning jazz singer Kurt Elling and accordion virtuoso Richard Galliano. Further details on performances are available on Hessischer Rundfunk's website.
The ECB will operate an information stand at the event, with a focus on the design of future euro banknotes. Visitors will be able to explore ten shortlisted design proposals under consideration and participate in the ECB's public survey. The proposals are based on two possible themes: "European culture" and "Rivers and birds."
Admission is free and gates open at 16:00. The ECB said the concert celebrates the richness of Europe's cultural life and offers an opportunity for visitors to engage with the institution and share their views on euro banknote design.
