A regional weather monitoring satellite has completed orbital testing and begun transmitting initial imaging data to ground stations.

The data is being used to calibrate rainfall forecasting models, particularly for island regions previously lacking observational coverage.

Operators said the imaging temporal resolution allows more frequent data updates than the previous system.

Processed data is planned to be opened to meteorological agencies across the region once validation is complete.
