Tottenham matched their best Women's Super League finish with fifth place last season, ending four points clear of their previous equivalent result and cutting the gap to fourth from ten points to four. Manager Martin Ho has rebuilt the side since their 11th-place finish in 2020-21, gaining increased support from the wider club.

The club pursued an ambitious recruitment strategy this summer, securing their top five targets early to allow a full pre-season together. Club-record signing Alice Sombath, a 22-year-old centre-back who joined from eight-time European champions Lyon, headlines the arrivals. Goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen, midfielder Kirsty Hanson and forward Shekiera Martinez also arrived alongside the return of former players including Signe Gaupset.

Hanson finished as the third-highest goalscorer in the WSL last season with 17 goals and was the league's highest-scoring midfielder, one goal behind Alessia Russo and nine behind Golden Boot winner Khadija Shaw. Sombath won a Champions League title and five league titles with Lyon and represented France at the 2025 European Championship after earning her first cap in November 2024.

Tottenham's financial backing has increased substantially, with turnover rising from £3.39 million in 2023-24 to £4.41 million in the year ending June 2025. The club's chief executive Vinai Venkatesham, who took office in April 2025, actively supported the Arsenal women's team during his previous tenure. Ho's work on the squad prompted multiple former players to return to work with him again.

Tottenham will play most matches at Leyton Orient's Brisbane Road with select fixtures at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, beginning with Arsenal on 25 October. Matchday revenue declined from £513,000 to £433,000 in the year to June 2025, and the club will look to increase attendance as it continues its investment in the women's programme.
