The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that three crew members (ABK) from Indonesia became victims of a drone attack in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait, Yemen, on Tuesday. Heni Hamidah, Director of Indonesian Citizen Protection at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the three crew members were part of the crew of MV Tihamah, which was attacked by a drone while anchored at Bab Al-Mandab Port.

One crew member sustained minor injuries from shrapnel and did not require hospitalisation. Another crew member was injured and is receiving treatment at a hospital. Meanwhile, international media reported one Indonesian crew member died in the incident, but the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is still verifying this information. The Indonesian Consulate office in Muscat, Oman is continuing to coordinate with Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to obtain further information, Hamidah said in a written statement.

Hamidah said the attack was carried out by Houthi as the ship was anchored at the port located at the entrance to the Red Sea, an important trade route between the Middle East and Europe. MV Tihamah carried 11 crew members consisting of eight workers from Pakistan and three from Indonesia. Yemen's Ministry of Transport reported four crew members of the ship died, one of them from Indonesia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it continues to take steps to protect the crew members, including treatment of injuries and facilitating their return after conditions permit. The consulate office is also continuing to communicate with the families of Indonesian nationals and providing necessary assistance.

Yemen's Ministry of Transport stated that an attack with ballistic missiles by Houthi occurred on Tuesday and caused the ship carrying food supplies to catch fire with four deaths and four injuries. The ministry noted that the attack continued as rescue teams were evacuating victims, assessed as aiming to maximise casualties and prevent rescue efforts. This attack demonstrates a direct threat to food supplies for millions of Yemeni citizens, according to an official statement from Yemen's Ministry of Transport.
