Rod Stewart has cancelled all remaining dates from the One Last Time Tour, his farewell tour, after undergoing a coronary stent placement procedure. The 81-year-old singer is now in recovery.
Stewart's representative said the musician has recently undergone a coronary stent placement procedure and his condition continues to improve. According to the representative, Stewart has already returned to his normal daily activities, and his doctors are satisfied with his recovery.
On his doctor's advice, Stewart will use the next four weeks to recover and fully restore his fitness before returning to the stage, according to his representative. "Unfortunately, this means he is unable to continue his current tour schedule," the representative said, as reported by Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday.
Stewart has apologised to his fans for having to cancel the shows. "I am very disappointed to have to miss these performances and apologise for letting down my fans, but I look forward to returning to the stage and having fun with you all again very soon," Stewart said.
The cancellation follows a series of health issues affecting Stewart's tour schedule. Two days before the cancellation announcement, Stewart postponed a concert at Riverbend Music Center in Cincinnati due to "an unexpected but minor medical procedure". In June, he cancelled four concerts in Nevada and postponed two performances in California after contracting the flu. In July, Stewart also stopped his performance at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre while singing a song to breathe oxygen from a tube after nearly fainting, though he later returned and managed to complete the show.
