Paris Saint-Germain have officially announced the signing of left-back Digne from Aston Villa in the summer 2026 transfer window. The 33-year-old player previously played for the Paris club during the period from 2013 to 2015.
Digne, who grew up in the Paris area, expressed his happiness at rejoining PSG. He also expressed positive impressions of the club's development in recent years and said he could not wait to begin a new chapter in Paris.
After leaving PSG in 2015, Digne had a loan spell at AS Roma before joining Barcelona. At Barcelona, he was trained by Luis Enrique, who is now PSG's coach. The player then continued his career in England, joining Everton in 2018 and moving to Aston Villa four years later.
With Aston Villa, Digne was part of the squad that won the Europa League last season under coach Unai Emery. At international level, Digne has appeared 64 times for the French national team and has been the main choice at left-back for Les Bleus throughout the 2026 World Cup tournament.
Digne is PSG's second signing in the summer 2026 transfer window following the arrival of Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco. The player will have the opportunity to make his PSG debut when the club faces Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup in Salzburg on 12 August 2026, though he is expected in the longer term to play more as a backup to main left-back Nuno Mendes.
