Indonesia's women's volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Philippines in the second leg of the SEA V Women's Cup 2026 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on Sunday (9/8). Indonesia led 8-7 early in the match, but the Philippines found momentum and closed the first set with a 25-13 victory.
In the second set, Indonesia played better and drew level 14-14 before taking a 16-15 lead. The match became tight with point-for-point exchanges until 17-17. Indonesia eventually won 25-23 after leading 20-18.
The third set began with Indonesia trailing 3-6. The team led by Marcos Sugiyama managed to level at 7-7 and led 8-7, but the Philippines played more disciplined. The Philippines built an advantage to 16-12 and closed the set 25-19 to lead 2-1.
The fourth set was very close from the start with both teams trading leads. Indonesia led 23-20 at one point but the Philippines levelled 23-22. Arsela Nuari gave Indonesia a 24-22 lead, but the Philippines won two lucky points to draw level at 24-24.
The score remained tied until 31-31. The Philippines then led 32-31 and finally won 33-31 to clinch the fourth set and the match 3-1. With this result, the Philippines secured third place in leg two, while Indonesia could finish in fifth place.
