Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran's unity and strength provide the best opportunity for Tehran to reach a deal with the United States through diplomatic channels. Pezeshkian said Iran regards itself as having emerged from war and conflict as the winning and strong party.

According to Pezeshkian in a press conference on Saturday (8/8) cited from Middle East Monitor, the current situation allows Iran to pursue an agreement while resolving outstanding issues through dialogue. He said Iran can fight for its rights through diplomacy and does not want anything beyond what is due to Iran and its people.

Pezeshkian stressed that war alone cannot resolve all disputes and his government remains committed to pursuing peace based on a memorandum of understanding signed by Iran and the US in June. However, he said Iran will only use that memorandum as the basis for its approach if the US abandons mistrust and confidence between the two nations can be restored.

While opening the possibility of dialogue, Pezeshkian maintained harsh criticism of the US. In a statement cited by Iran's official news agency IRNA, he called dialogue a change in Iran's stance toward Washington, describing it as a colonialist state and a criminal state.

Pezeshkian believes diplomacy has forced Washington to return to negotiations with Tehran. He also refuted criticism of the memorandum of understanding and stressed that there are no provisions requiring Iran to surrender its interests or position.
