The Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti) is still waiting for final approval of financing and a decision from the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) regarding Indonesia's tennis contingent for the Asian Games. Pelti's General Secretary Andi Fajar said Pelti has proposed 10 athletes, consisting of five men and five women, to strengthen Indonesia at the Asian sports event.
Andi explained that Pelti has confirmed five names for the men's category and five for the women's category, but is still awaiting a decision from KOI. "However, to this day there has been no decision from KOI. Of course, this is KOI's authority, so we are still waiting for finalisation," Andi said during the final of the 2026 Indonesia Tennis League Series 1 in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to Andi, confirmation of financing is one of the issues Pelti is still waiting for, especially given information about government budget efficiency that could affect the number of athletes that can be sent. Pelti in principle hopes that the entire available tennis quota can be filled so that athletes who have been preparing have the opportunity to compete at the Asian Games.
If there are financing limitations, Pelti is ready to seek alternatives including self-financing so that athletes who have been proposed can still be sent. "Self-financing is the right choice so that the efforts of friends who have been training are not wasted," Andi said. He stressed that participation in the Asian Games is important for athletes because, in addition to being part of efforts to improve Indonesian sports performance, the event is also a source of pride for athletes.
The ten athletes proposed by Pelti are Janice Tjen, Aldila Sutjiadi, Priska Nugroho, Anjali Kirana Junarto, and Meydiana Laviola Reinnamah from the women's category. From the men's category there are Muhammad Rifqi Fitriadi, Christopher Rungkat, Lucky Candra Kurniawan, Anthony Susanto, and Muhammad Gunawan Trismuwantara. Andi said the 10 names still have the status of proposals and are not yet the final list of Indonesia's tennis contingent for the Asian Games.
