Crystal Palace have had a verbal bid rejected by Monaco for midfielder Lamine Camara, the 22-year-old Senegal international. The offer was reportedly worth more than £35 million, which would have made him one of the most expensive signings in Palace's history.
Camara joined Monaco from Metz in 2024 for a reported 15 million euros (£12.8 million). The midfielder has made 49 appearances for Senegal and featured at this summer's World Cup. He came to France after excelling in several prestigious Senegalese youth academies.
Palace have made four summer signings under new manager Pierre Sage, who replaced Oliver Glasner. They brought in striker Evann Guessand on loan from Aston Villa, winger Dwight McNeil from Everton in a swap deal involving Brennan Johnson, and defender Takehiro Tomiyasu on a free transfer. Earlier, Sage signed Oscar Mingueza from Celta Vigo.
The club faces Freiburg in a pre-season friendly before opening their Premier League campaign away at Everton on Saturday, August 22.
