Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated his hopes that Persija Jakarta will win the 2026/2027 Super League title. Pramono made this statement in Jakarta on Sunday (9 August) after Persija finished third at the 2026 Presidential Cup.

Pramono said that under coach Shin Tae Yong's leadership, the Macan Kemayoran team has shown improvement. "What matters most is unity, solidarity and cohesion within the team, which I believe has become better," said Pramono, according to Antara.

Persija will begin a training camp in Thailand starting Monday (10 August) to improve player performance ahead of competitions. Shin Tae Yong stressed that the training camp programme has not been cancelled, despite originally being scheduled for early August but postponed due to participation in the 2026 Presidential Cup.

Shin stated that during the Presidential Cup, Persija's team strength only reached 40 per cent. The South Korean coach also ensured the Persija squad will receive new players, with at least two to three additional players joining during the training camp in Thailand.
