A Weibo user, Fixed Focus Digital, has reported a rumour that Apple will raise iPhone 17 prices starting Monday, 10 August. The report follows price increases that Apple implemented on products such as MacBooks and iPads in late June.

The same source has emphasised that it cannot yet confirm whether the price increase will actually occur. Fixed Focus Digital also mentioned that Apple's production capacity plans have changed, although it remains unclear whether the change is related to iPhone pricing.

In late June, Apple raised prices on a number of its products shortly after CEO Tim Cook warned of a surge in memory chip costs, described as a rare condition like a "hundred-year flood". Price increases were then applied to iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Apple Vision Pro and HomePod, while iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch were still excluded at that time.

If the latest rumour proves true, it remains unclear whether the price increase will apply to the entire iPhone 17 line or only certain variants. Forbes has also noted that there is still no information on whether the price changes will include the iPhone Air or the iPhone 16 models still being sold by Apple.

In Indonesia, iPhone 17 Series prices have already risen earlier. Based on data from Apple's authorised distributors iBox and Digimap, prices for all iPhone 17 Series variants in July 2026 were recorded as higher than when first launched in October 2025, with increases ranging from 750,000 rupiah to 1.25 million rupiah depending on the model and storage capacity. The weakening of the rupiah's exchange rate against the US dollar is likely the cause of the price increase.
