Haruomi Hosono, the Yellow Magic Orchestra co-founder, has released a cover of the Moonglows' "Sincerely." The track appears on his album Yours Sincerely, arriving September 11 via Ghostly, and pairs a Japanese translation of the lyrics with a minimally adorned acoustic-guitar arrangement.

The original 1954 doo-wop hit was written by Harvey Fuqua and Alan Freed, with Fuqua performing as a member of the Moonglows. Hosono said in a press release that he was drawn to the song because of the album's theme, describing it as centered on "the spirit of sincerely—a closing salutation."

Hosono said he rewrote the lyrics in Japanese to return to the word's original meaning of "from the heart," rather than the original love song expressing yearning. He noted that in doing so, he sought to pay "respects to the generous spirit of the 1950s and to this beloved song."

Hosono will perform with Toro y Moi at New York's Radio City Music Hall on September 16 and at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on September 20.
