Patrice Rio Capella, head of the task force unit of the Hanura Party's central board, said the party was building its structure down to village level and targeting 83,000 villages as preparation for the 2029 elections. Rio stated that if the party structure is fully established in all provinces, cities and districts across Indonesia's 7,300 districts and 83,000 villages, the four per cent parliamentary threshold could be exceeded.
Rio explained that developing the structure down to village level is important to ensure the party has a political base that can be mobilised during elections. He targeted each village having cadres connected to the party structure, with an assumption of 10 cadres per village yielding around 830,000 cadres who could become part of Hanura's political machine.
Strengthening the structure would serve as capital for Hanura to build a political machine ready to compete in the 2029 elections, Rio emphasised. He stressed that consolidation of the structure is not merely preparation to meet the parliamentary threshold requirement, since that provision is still being discussed.
Rio added that the Hanura central board task force was assigned by the party chairman to ensure the strengthening of the party structure across Indonesia. Consolidation would be carried out continuously until the 2029 elections through visits to various regions to check the progress of the structure and the party's readiness, he said when attending consolidation and technical meeting of Hanura across South Sumatra.
