Lottie Fry of Great Britain became the first rider in the history of the FEI World Championships to retain both individual dressage titles, competing aboard Glamourdale in Aachen, Germany. The 30-year-old won the Grand Prix Special on Friday and the Grand Prix Freestyle event, defending the titles she won in Herning, Denmark four years ago.
Fry and Glamourdale scored 91.907 percent in the freestyle, just shy of their personal best, which proved sufficient to secure the gold medal. The performance made Fry the first British rider to defend a World Championship title and the first rider in 60 years of the competition to win the "double-double" in both Grand Prix events.
Two other British riders placed in the top seven, with Becky Moody and Jagerbomb finishing fifth overall and Carl Hester and Fame seventh, making Great Britain the only nation with three riders in the top seven. The World Championships serve as the first qualifier for the 2028 Olympics, and Great Britain's dressage team secured a spot at the Los Angeles Games on Wednesday.
